VIJAYPUR, Feb 22: All J&K Jatt Sabha, president and former Minister Manjit Singh today demanded a special recruitment drive for border residents of the Jammu Division.
Manjit Singh was addressing during a meeting, organised at village Rangoor in the Ramgarh subdivision of Samba district by the J&K Jatt Youth Sabha.
The meeting was organised by district president Naveen Choudhary.
Speaking on the occasion, Manjit emphasized the important issues concerning the Jatt community.
He said that youth from the Jatt community and the border belt of the Jammu Division have remained neglected for decades, while unemployment has steadily increased over the years.
Singh stressed the urgent need to organise a special recruitment drive for unemployed youth from the border belt of the Jammu Division.
“These border residents have sacrificed their lives during India-Pakistan conflicts and ceasefire violations. Their lives often remain unsafe,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tarlok Singh Bajwa, former MP and chief patron, All J&K Jatt Sabha expressed concern that the Central Government has not extended Other Backwards Class (OBC) benefits to Jatt youth of Jammu and Kashmir in central Government services and educational institutions.
Former Minister and senior vice president Sukhnandan Choudhary also addressed the meeting.
In his address, he referred to the pending one-time settlement instalment for displaced persons of 1947, 1965 and 1971.
“The pending compensation should be cleared in one go and property rights should be granted to the displaced persons/Jatts of 1965 and 1971 for the properties they have been holding for decades following allotment,” he demanded.
Senior vice president and DDC Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony demanded that the Jammu and Kashmir Government recognise Maharaja Ranjit Singh by installing his statue in Jammu district.
Among others who were present on the occasion included Ex-Minister, Choudhary, Garu Ram, Dwarka Choudhary, Choudhary Jagar Singh, Jarnail Choudhary, Naresh Bittu, Bachan Choudhary, Manjit Jatt, Mandeep Randhawa, Reena Choudhary, Balvir Kour, Harvans Choudhary, Ranjeet Singh Goldy, Kali Das, Jagdish Raj, Mohan Singh Bhatti and Vijay Choudhary.
