23 bovines rescued

UDHAMPUR, Feb 17: Police foiled three bovine smuggling attempts during naka checking at Battal Naka Point under the jurisdiction of Police Station Majalta and rescued 23 bovines.
A vehicle No. JK14J-1477 (Mahindra) was intercepted and 07 bovines were found loaded in a cruel manner. The accused Mohd Arshad, son of Nek Alam of Baryalta, Majalta was arrested on the spot for failing to produce valid permission.
Another vehicle No. JK14K-5886 was intercepted during routine checking and upon inspection, 07 bovines were found illegally transported towards Kashmir valley.
In another action at Battal Naka Point, vehicle No. JK19A-8392 was intercepted and 09 bovines were found loaded in a cruel and illegal manner. The accused fled from the spot taking advantage of darkness.
Three separate FIRs have been registered and efforts were on to identify and apprehend the accused.
