16 animals rescued as police foil bovine smuggling bid

JAMMU, Feb 1: Police in Jhajjar Kotli area here today claimed to have foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 16 animals from the clutches of the smugglers.
During checking of vehicles, a team of Police Station Jhajjar Kotli, led by Inspector Vikas Dogra, intercepted a vehicle (JK08E-4932), a police official said.
But on noticing the police team, the driver of the vehicle tried to flee, he said.
The vehicle was chased and subsequently seized and all the animals loaded inside it in a cruel manner were rescued, the police official said.
According to him, a case FIR number 16/2026 under section 223 of the BNS and section 11 of the PCA Act has been registered in this regard at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and further investigation taken up.
