One held with stolen gold ornaments

DODA, Jan 31: Police here today solved a theft case after arresting the accused and recovering stolen gold ornaments and other household items worth lakhs of rupees from him.
As per reports, on January 8, 2026, a lady Yasmeena Begum, resident of Goila Kahara, District Doda, visited Police Post Kahara and lodged a complaint stating that she had gone to her relatives’ house on January 6, 2026 and upon returning home next day she found that gold ornaments including a gold pendant, earrings, silver necklace, silver earrings, worth several lakhs of rupees, along with four blankets, one stabilizer and two large spoons were missing.
Acting promptly on the complaint, Police registered an FIR with No. 04/26 U/S 331(4)/305 BNS at Police Station Gandoh and started investigation.
On the directions of SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta, a special team was constituted which was led by IC PP Kahara, PSI Sunil Kumar and SHO Police Station Gandoh Inspector Farooq Katoch, under the supervision of SDPO Gandoh, DySP Lov Karan.
Through sustained efforts, the team successfully solved the case and arrested the accused Irshad Ahmed, resident of Nan Chabba, Tehsil Kahara.
During questioning, the accused confessed his involvement in the crime. On his disclosure, stolen gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees were recovered. Additionally, four blankets, one electronic stabilizer, and two large spoons were also recovered from his house at Nan Chabba.
