Police foils 2 bovine smuggling bids, rescues 23 animals

SAMBA, Jan 30: Continuing its drive against bovine smugglers and their propagators, Samba Police has foiled two separate bovine smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction of Police Stations (PS) Ghagwal and Samba, rescued 23 bovines from the clutches of bovine smugglers and seized a truck involved in the illegal transportation of bovines.
A police spokesman said acting on information received from reliable sources, a team of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal during vehicle checking at Naka NHW Tapyal, intercepted a truck bearing Registration Number HR55P-7384 for its checking. During checking, 18 bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission. All the bovines have been rescued and the vehicle involved in the illegal transportation of bovines has also been seized.
He said a case FIR No. 14/2026 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.
Spokesman said in another incident, a police party of Police Post (PP) Rakh Amb Talli of PS Samba has successfully foiled bovine smuggling attempt and rescued five bovines which were being smuggled by foot near village Kali Bari Ramnagar. All the rescued bovines have been shifted to safer location.
A case FIR No.27/2026 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station (PS) Samba and investigation started, he added.
