JAMMU, Jan 28: A police constable died in a road accident near Rotary Chowk here today.
A two-wheeler driven by a Selection grade Constable (SgCT), identified as Sunny Salgotra son of Manohar Salgotra of Arnia, was hit by a car (JK02BP-5755) near Rotary Chowk area behind Civil Secretariat, resulting in severe injuries to the cop, a police official said.

Accordingly, a team of Police Post Parade rushed him to Government Medical College Jammu, where the team of doctors declared him as dead on arrival, he said.
While the body has been shifted to the mortuary of the hospital for conducting the post-mortem examination, police have registered a case FIR number 04/2026 under the relevant Sections of the law and started further investigation into the matter, the police official said. According to him, the accused driver has also been arrested.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has condoled the passing away of the police jawan and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family members.
He also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and strength for the family in this hour of grief.
