SRINAGAR, Jan 16: The J&K Medical Council (JKMC) recorded an unprecedented increase in medical registrations in 2025, marking its best performance since inception, officials said today.
According to official figures, the Council processed a record 2,381 permanent registrations in 2025, registering an 80 per cent increase over 1,324 registrations in 2024.
Of the total permanent registrations issued in 2025, as per figures, 939 were Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs), which, officials said, are more than double the 584 FMG registrations recorded the previous year.
In addition, 1,252 doctors who graduated from Medical Colleges within J&K were granted permanent registration.
Officials said that the steep rise is due to the improved administrative efficiency and a growing inflow of medical professionals into J&K.
The Council, as per figures, also issued 190 Permanent Reciprocal Registrations, a category mandatory for doctors from outside J&K who visit or work in the UT for clinical services, academic assignments or higher studies.
This includes doctors selected through PG NEET and DNB courses in medical colleges and institutions across J&K.
Beyond permanent registrations, the JKMC processed 1,045 additional registrations in 2025, pointing to increased professional mobility and demand for formal recognition of qualifications.
During the year, the Council also issued 783 No Objection Certificates (NOCs), 231 Good Standing certificates, and facilitated 125 Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits, aimed at strengthening professional standards and continuous learning among doctors.
The data further shows that between 2021 and 2025, the JKMC handled a total of 6,082 permanent registrations, with 2025 alone accounting for nearly 40 per cent of the five-year total-highlighting the exceptional scale of growth achieved during the year.
