LEH, Jan 15: The Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh has ordered the freezing of boundaries of districts, tehsils, municipalities, towns, revenue villages and other administrative units across the UT till the completion of Census 2027.
According to a notification issued by the Planning, Development and Monitoring Department, the boundaries of districts, tehsils, municipalities, towns, revenue villages and other administrative units in Ladakh shall remain unchanged till the completion of the Census exercise.
The decision has been taken under the powers conferred by Clause (iv) of Rule 8 of the Census Rules, 1990, the notification said.
It further stated that the order shall be deemed to have come into force with effect from January 1, 2026.
The notification has been issued by Commissioner/Secretary, Planning, Development and Monitoring Department, UT of Ladakh, Dr. Laltinkhuma Franklin, IAS.
