MLA Kathua meets CM, raises issues of OBCs

JAMMU, Jan 6: Member Legislative Assembly, Kathua, Dr. Bharat Bhushan today met Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah in CM Secretariat here and raised issues of OBCs.
MLA apprised Chief Minister that other Backward Castes constitute 11.4% population of Jammu and Kashmir as per 2011 census and have been playing pivotal role in the growth and development of J&K but since last three years, the educated youth of OBCs residing in Urban areas of Jammu and Kashmir have not been able to apply for Government jobs in Union and UT Government Departments and in Armed Forces as OBC certificate for Castes like Potter, Dhobi, Teli etc. are not being issued by the competent authorities in favour of OBC youth of Urban areas. This has debarred thousands of educated youth from getting jobs and placements.
He urged the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to take up the issue with Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment so that OBCs of Urban areas can again start getting the benefits of reservation in admissions and services.
The Chief Minister assured to take up the issue with the concerned in this regard.
