JAMMU, Dec 28: Arya Samaj, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu today organized a protest rally in support of Hindus living in Bangladesh and to condemn the alleged atrocities committed against them.
The programme began with a pooja-yagya at the Samaj premises, followed by members paying homage to the Hindus of Bangladesh who, according to the speakers, lost their lives after being torched, raped and brutally murdered. Special prayers were offered for peace and ‘Moksh’ of the departed souls.
Subsequently, members staged a protest rally outside the Arya Samaj premises, urging the Government of India to take all possible steps to safeguard the lives and properties of Hindus residing in Bangladesh. The protesters also appealed to the Bangladesh Government to act firmly against what they termed as misguided youths and demanded strict punishment, including the death penalty, for fundamentalists.
The protest was led by Mahesh Arya, a member of Arya Samaj. Prominent office bearers present included Ashok Kumar (vice president), Subhash Arya (secretary), Ranvijay Shashtri (Purohit) and Gian Chander (sahyak). Other members who participated were Rajiv Rai, Deepak Muglani, Sahnety, Dr Kulbhushan Mohotra, Suman Arya, Savita Rai and Kiran Sharma.
The rally concluded with the chanting of Shanti Path, praying for peace and welfare of the entire world.
