Holds protest at Durga Nagar

JAMMU, Dec 23: Pt Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) held a symbolic protest here, today demanding the passage of much talked about Kashmiri Hindu Shrines and Temples Bill and settlement of other pressing demands of the displaced Pandits leading an exiled life for last 36 years.
The Trust earlier held a meeting of all temple committees and prominent KP activists and senior leaders as a run up to the forthcoming Chetna Diwas falling on December 27.
The speakers showed their dismay over the constant delaying tactics of the Government on the enactment of law for protection of shrines and temples in Kashmir. The protesters raised slogans in support of their demand and sought immediate intervention of Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha in the matter.
The Trust, while complimenting the LG administration for its initiative in renovating and reconstructing some damaged shrines and temples in Kashmir however said that this initiative will only yield results when there is a statutory body for managing and supervising these religious places.
They said many shrines in Valley are in total dilapidated condition and there protection and restoration can be only ensured through a mechanism of the law.
The meeting also demanded that the pressing demands of the community including its dignified and honourable rehabilitation be addressed on war footing basis, besides, the issues concerning over aged displaced youth, PM package employees and relief holders be also addressed.
The meeting was organised by Durga Nagar Welfare Coordination Committee representatives M K Razdhan and B L Raina while it was chaired by Prof A N Sadhu. Chairman and vice chairman of the Trust, P L Pandita and C L Panddita, Trust general secretary, S L Koul, founder Trustee, Kashmiri Lal Bhat, Dr Ramesh Bhat, H L Bhat, Rohit Ganjoo, J L Pandita, Kuldeep Raina, Ravinder Thaploo, Sheela Handoo and B L Bhat also addressed it.
