JAMMU, Dec 22: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital (SMVDNSH), Kakryal, has achieved a landmark in advanced cardiac care by completing 50 open heart surgeries in the current year, taking the total number of such surgeries performed at the hospital to over 250 since the inception of its Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) department.
This milestone underscores SMVDNSH’s position as the only private tertiary care hospital in Jammu & Kashmir offering comprehensive cardiac care under one roof, seamlessly integrating cardiology, interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery with 24×7 emergency and critical care support.
The CTVS department has consistently delivered complex and high-risk cardiac surgeries across all age groups, from infants as young as 7 months to senior citizens aged up to 86 years. Led by Dr Vinod Bhan and Dr Romil Dutt Sharma, Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgeons, the Department is supported by a highly skilled team of cardiac anaesthesia, critical care, perfusion and specialized nursing professionals.
SMVDNSH offers a fully integrated cardiac ecosystem, including dedicated cardiac operation theatres, a specialized cardiac intensive care unit, advanced cath lab services and a 24×7 emergency response system.
The Hospital also provides cashless cardiac surgeries under Ayushman Bharat and ECHS schemes, ensuring that advanced and life-saving cardiac treatment remains accessible and affordable for eligible patients.
Dr M Muthu Mathavan, Facility Director, SMVDNSH, said, “This achievement represents trust, clinical discipline and the strength of an integrated cardiac programme built with the support of the Shrine Board. Being the only private tertiary centre offering complete cardiac care under one roof in the region is both a distinction and a responsibility.”
Dr Yashpal Sharma, Executive Director, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME), added, “The Shrine Board’s long-term vision has helped create a robust healthcare institution capable of managing the most complex cardiac cases. Crossing 250 open heart surgeries reflects clinical excellence, teamwork and growing patient confidence.”
