RAJOURI, Dec 16: Grief engulfed Rattal village in district Rajouri today as local villager, serving in Army as JCO, was martyred in an explosion, near the Line of Control in Kupwara sector of Kashmir.
A pall of gloom descended Rattal village in Choudhary Nad area of Rajouri as the news of martyrdom of Naib Subedar, Zabir Ahmed, reached the family. The neighbours started gathering at soldier’s house to know about the matter. They were shell shocked to know that JCO Zabir Ahmed attained martyrdom in an explosion while on duty along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district of the Kashmir Valley.
The martyr had been serving the nation with exemplary dedication for the past 22 years and was presently deployed in the sensitive LoC sector of Kupwara, where the tragic incident occurred.
Naib Subedar Zabir Ahmed is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter, and his elderly mother. Following this sad news a steady stream of people started visiting the bereaved family to offer condolences and pay homage to the brave soldier. The entire area was engulfed in an atmosphere of sorrow, with villagers remembering the martyr with tearful eyes and deep respect.
Recalling his brother’s devotion to duty, the martyr’s brother Farooq said that Zabir Ahmed had devoted most of his life to the service of the nation and rarely took leave to visit home, preferring to remain at the frontlines. He said the sudden loss has left the family and the entire village in deep shock and mourning.
Farooq further informed that the mortal remains of the martyr are expected to reach his native village on Wednesday, where people are eagerly awaiting to pay their final respects. The family remains inconsolable, and an overwhelming sense of grief prevails across the region.
The supreme sacrifice of Naib Subedar Zabir Ahmed has once again highlighted the courage, commitment, and selfless service of the Indian Army personnel who stand guard to protect the nation’s borders.
