RAJOURI, Dec 15: Stone Crushers Association, Rajouri has declared to go on indefinite strike throughout the district causing a complete suspension of mining activities from tomorrow.
The Association attributed its action to the J&K Govt’s unfavourable mining policy and impractical regulations.
Talking to media-persons Association’s district president, Javed Mir and member Tazeem Dar stated that this decisive action comes after the Govt’s persistent disregard of their valid demands, which has negatively impacted Rajouri’s mining sector. He maintained that the strike shall continue till the Govt provides adequate solution, stating that any consequent revenue losses shall be attributed to Govt inaction.
“From Tuesday we will go for indefinite strike and till our demands are met, the strike will remain continue,” Javed Mir said.
The Association sought protection for legal leaseholders from responsibility for unauthorised mining activities.
They said that there should not be any illegal mining and illegal operation of stone crushers and if Govt finds any illegal activity it must dealt with iron hands, but those who are running this industry with great dedication and honesty should not be made to suffer.
Dar applealed to the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to ask his Deputy and Forest Minister to listen to the genuine issues of stone crasher owners and sort them out without any further delay.
