Conducts tour of Udhampur, Ramban

JAMMU, Dec 14: Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Forest Force, Suresh Kumar Gupta, conducted an extensive tour of Udhampur and Batote Forest Divisions and reviewed the implementation of various schemes of the department. Enroute, PCCF along with officers of the department visited Mandh nursery of Udhampur Forest Division.
He appreciated the efforts of the field staff in revival of nursery after its damage during recent floods and advised to upgrade it to model nursery for utilising its full potential. At Udhampur Forest Complex, PCCF kick started winter plantation drive by planting a sapling, inaugurated recently constructed residence of DFO and reviewed the progress ongoing works. He called upon proper coordination among various wings of the department at district level for proper delivery of services to the people and achieving the laid down targets.
Thereafter, Gupta chaired a meeting of forest officers of Ramban district at Batote. He directed for redoubling efforts for achieving the targets of 2025-26. Here also, he kick started winter plantation drive by planting a deodar sapling. He appreciated the eco-tourism promotion works undertaken by the department in the area and advised the officers for their proper promotion for the awareness of public in general and youth/students in particular. He called upon proactive involvement of youth and students in forest and nature conservation. He advised the field functionaries to take the support and assistance of youth and students visiting the Patnitop, Batote and Sanasar in spreading awareness about protection and conservation of forests, wildlife, nature and environment.
He made the appeal while inaugurating Van Jagruti Kendra(VJK) at Batote established by the department. He said that Van Jagruti Kendra(VJK) will serve as a center for promoting Forest related awareness to School children as well as the tourists visiting the area.
The PCCF & HoFF was accompanied by Dr. V. S. Senthil Kumar, Chief Conservator of Forests, Jammu, Pardeep Wahule, Conservator of Forests East, Dr. Arshdeep Singh, Conservator of Forests, Chenab, Satyendra Maurya, DFO Udhampur, Anil Jhon, DFO Ramban, Abinav Ramyotra, DFO Batote and officers and officials from allied wings of J&K Forest Department.
