UDHAMPUR, Dec 14: Udhampur Police today apprehended a drug peddler during routine traffic checking at Phalata naka on the National Highway besides arresting a lady narco kingpin from Jammu by investigating backward linkage of an NDPS case.
Police team of PS Rehanbal, during traffic checking at Phalata Naka, intercepted a Swift car bearing registration number JK01AW-2817, which was coming from Jammu towards Udhampur.
During personal search of the driver, 6.10 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession following which he was taken into custody. The arrested driver disclosed his identity as Abrar Javid, son of Javid Hamed Sheikh of Lasjan Gundbal, Saloiteng, Srinagar.
Accordingly, FIR No. 210/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered in this connection at Police Station Rehanbal.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police, while investigating FIR No. 386/2025 registered under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Udhampur, conducted a follow-up operation and arrested a lady kingpin involved in the said case.
It is pertinent to mention that earlier, on 07.11.2025, a police team of PS Udhampur had arrested a drug peddler namely Aditya Gupta, son of Navneet Gupta of Adarsh Colony, Udhampur and recovered heroin from his possession near Subash Stadium, Udhampur.
During the course of further investigation of the case, the involvement of another accused in the narcotics supply chain came to light. Acting promptly on the leads so developed, a police team of PS Udhampur led by DSP Prob Divya Kesar, arrested Geeta Devi, C/o Ram Aasre of Street No. 01, Bhagatpura, Phagwara, Punjab A/P Rajiv Nagar, Narwal, Jammu.
