Woman among 2 drug peddlers held

RAMBAN, Dec 11: Police here today arrested two drug peddlers including a woman and recovered over 500 gms of Charas from them during separate operations in Ramban and Banihal.
Acting on credible information about illegal narcotics activity, cops from Police Station Ramban conducted a raid and arrested a woman identified as Shabnam Begum, wife of Mohd Younas, resident of Ward No. 1, Ramban. During search of her residence, 528 grams Charas was recovered, which she had concealed to sell among the local youth.
In this regard cops have registered a case in FIR No. 253/2025 at Police Station Ramban under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act and started investigation.
In a separate incident, during a routine patrol, Banihal Police apprehended Farooq Ahmed Naik, son of Mohd Iqbal Naik, resident of Thachi Chamalwaas and on his search, cops recovered about 70-90 gram Charas.
A case in FIR No. 132/2025 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act was registered in this regard at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
SSP Ramban, Arun Gupta has stated that Ramban Police remain committed to eliminate the drug menace from the district. He urged the public to cooperate with cops by reporting any suspicious activities in their areas.
