JAMMU, Dec 6: Police in Jammu’s Bathindi area today claimed they have recovered 8 stolen bovine animals within 24 hours of receiving the theft complaint.
A police official said one Shaheen Kouser wife of Talib Hussain of Bathindi lodged a written complaint with Police Post Bathindi, stating therein that her eight cows, including calves, went missing from her dairy on December 4, 2025, when she was not home.
On the basis of her complaint, an FIR was registered at Police Station Bahu For and a prompt investigation was launched, he said.
During the course of investigation, a team of Police Post Bathindi, led by incharge Police Post concerned, Basharat Hussain, intercepted a truck loaded with 31 animals, said the police official, adding that some of these animals were identified as stolen by the complainant Shaheen Kouser.
Accordingly, the animals were handed over to their rightful owner and further investigation was launched to examine the route, mode of transportation, and destination of the recovered animals to uncover the entire chain of illegal movement, added the police official.
