JAMMU, Dec 6: A tenth standard student apparently ended her life by hanging at her residence at Nanak Nagar area of the district here today.
Bhumika Sharma, 15, daughter of Bhuwaneshwar Sharma, and resident of House Number 122, Sector 14, Nanak Nagar Jammu, was spotted hanging from the ceiling fan with a dupatta tied around her neck at her residence by her family members this morning, who took her to Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, a police official said.
Later, she was taken to Government Medical College Jammu, where doctors declared her dead on arrival, he said.
While the body has been handed over to the legal heirs, police have initiated inquest proceedings to ascertain the reasons as to why the teenager took such an extreme step to end her life, the police official added.
