JAMMU, Nov 30: BJP leader and former Minister, Bali Bhagat on Sunday claimed that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was trying to ‘sanitize’ the role of NC in collapse of the government for two times in J&K.
Reacting to Omar Abdullah’s demand of full control of J&K’s Home Department as no Pahalgam or Delhi-type attacks took place under the NC rule, Bhagat claimed that NC presided over some of the most damaging periods of militancy, civilian unrest and separatist expansion in J&K.
“The Farooq Abdullah led government in 1986-1990, was marked by political instability and unchecked radicalisation,” he maintained adding: “Under NC-Congress alliance Pakistan-backed groups like JKLF gained unprecedented space and the administration remained paralysed.”
Responding to Omar Abdullah’s demand for the Home Ministry, Bhagat said: “People have not forgotten the exodus, the bloodshed, the shutdown calendars, or the summers of violence.”
