JAMMU, Nov 24: The Department of National Security Studies (NSS) at the Central University of Jammu concluded a two-day ICSSR-sponsored international seminar on “Security in the Changing World Order: Challenges and Responses”.
A statement said the valedictory session of the event, organised under the patronage of the Vice Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Sanjeev Jain, began with a welcome address by Dr Neeta Rani, Head of the NSS Department, followed by an introduction of the guest speaker, Prof Rajiv Nayan from Jamia Millia Islamia.
A brief summary of the seminar was presented by Dr Anuradha, Assistant Professor, highlighting the key themes and outcomes discussed over two days.
In his valedictory address, Prof Nayan offered an in-depth analysis of the shifting global order.
He said changes in global polarity, the rise of regional powers, and expanding forms of hybrid warfare-especially information warfare-are reshaping security challenges worldwide.
He stressed the need for India to strengthen indigenous capabilities, promote scientific and technological advancement, and modernize defence systems.
He called for a transformation in India’s strategic thinking by moving beyond western-centric approaches and drawing inspiration from the country’s own historical and civilizational knowledge.
Prof Asit Mantri, Head, Department of Educational Studies, shared remarks inspired by Sri Aurobindo’s philosophy.
He spoke about the importance of self-realization, adherence to dharma, and building national strength through cultural and intellectual heritage.
In his address, Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) Sanjeev Jain appreciated the department for organising a timely and meaningful seminar.
He reiterated that nations operate on permanent interests and urged citizens to stay aware and responsible toward national security, especially in view of the continuing threat of terrorism.
Earlier, technical sessions saw speakers deliberate on non-traditional security issues, global governance, populism, and the changing world order.
Around 30 participants, including faculty members, research scholars, and students, presented their papers.
Dr Tilak Raj Sharma delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, ICSSR, guest speakers, faculty, students, and staff for their support.
