Nemetschek Group & IIT Madras sign MoU to foster research in low-carbon and lean construction

NEW DELHI, Nov 23: Nemetschek Group has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Madras to establish a platinum membership research partnership under the Centre of Excellence ‘Technologies for Low-Carbon and Lean Construction (TCL2).
‘TLC2’ is a research initiative of IIT Madras focused on developing and implementing innovative solutions to make the construction industry more sustainable. It aims to minimize waste, reduce the carbon footprint and foster efficiency in the construction sector.
The partnership is funded by Nemetschek Group’s AI and Data innovation hub.
Prof Ashwin Mahalingam said,” Our engagement with Nemetschek offers a unique opportunity to advance cutting-edge research in sustainable construction technologies. The partnership empowers our faculty and students to work closely with industry pioneers to address real-world challenges, particularly in digital fabrication and modular construction, enhancing the impact of our academic programs.”
The partnership will cater diverse areas of collaboration including joint research projects, advisory and visiting appointments, employee continuing education and curriculum development.

This partnership is also intended to promote employment opportunities as Nemetschek’s digital tools with civil engineering programs will drive more recruitment opportunities for IIT Madras students.
