POONCH/RAJOURI, Nov 18: In a sustained crackdown against illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minor minerals, nine vehicles were seized by the authorities in Poonch and Rajouri districts since last night.
Reports said District Police Poonch today seized three tippers and two tractor trolleys found involved in the illegal transportation of sand and other minor minerals without requisite permission.
Acting on specific information, police teams conducted surprise checks at multiple locations across the district. During the inspection, the vehicles were intercepted and found transporting mineral material without valid documents or permits.
All five vehicles have been seized on the spot, and necessary legal action has been initiated against the violators. The concerned Mining Department was informed for further departmental proceedings.
Meanwhile, Rajouri Police has seized four vehicles involved in unlawful extraction and transportation of mining material across different Police Station jurisdictions. Police Station Sunderbani seized two tractor trolleys involved in illegal mining. These include- Tractor Trolley JK02BJ-5534 driven by Parul Sharma from Sunderbani; Tractor Trolley JK11A-3806, driven by Sahil Sharma from Sunderbani.
Police Station Nowshera seized one dumper (JK12B-3700) driven by Mohd Ajaz from Balakote, Mendhar which was found loaded with sand without valid documents. Police Station Dharamsal seized one dumper (JK19-4739) driven by Sukhbir Singh hailing from Berogoa Tehsil Kalakote, which was found carrying illegal mining material without mandatory documents.
