JAMMU, Nov 18: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Gandhi Nagar area here have cracked a major bike-theft racket with the recovery of 40 stolen motorcycle and scooties from parts of Jammu City.
Addressing media persons here today, SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh, said the action followed multiple complaints received from residents about rising incidents of two-wheeler thefts in Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Satwari, Gangyal, and nearby areas.
He said on the basis of these complaints, police registered several cases, including FIR numbers 22, 242, 215, and 220 of 2025 under section 303(2) of the BNS at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and launched a detailed investigation.

Accordingly, the District Police Chief said that a special team was constituted under the supervision of SP City South Ajay Sharma, led by PSI Mohammad Alyas, PSI Nadeem Khan, and PSI Pintoo Kumar, with close supervision of Inspector Jai Paul Sharma, SHO Gandhi Nagar, and overall supervision of SDPO South Kuljeet Singh.
During the probe, the police team analysed CCTV footage and used technical surveillance to track the suspects, identified as Harpreet Singh of Khanpur, Samba, Gurdarshan Singh of Pakhri, Samba, and Himanshu Nanda of Jinder Khurd, Bishnah, the SSP Jammu said.
During sustained questioning, he said, the trio confessed to carrying out several thefts across the City.
Based on their disclosure, 40 stolen two-wheelers were recovered from different locations across the district, he said.
According to him, the seized vehicles include Splendor, Super Splendor, Passion, TVS, Yamaha R 15, Royal Enfield Bullet, and multiple scooties, with an estimated value of Rs 30-35 lakh.
