Speaking to reporters after visiting the injured at a private hospital in Srinagar, Ruhullah said the blast, which killed two civilians, including a tailor and a watchman, had devastated entire families and raised serious questions about responsibility and procedure.
“The loss of life cannot be compensated. This accident has destroyed families. Accountability must be fixed,” he said.
The MP alleged that the case “was handled unprofessionally and insensitively” and demanded that authorities determine who was responsible for the lapses.
“Who were involved? Who failed in their duties? A proper report must be prepared, and every lapse must be made accountable,” he said.
Ruhullah said the tragedy had not only claimed lives but also left dependents without support, urging the government to provide relief and jobs to the victims’ families. “Money cannot compensate for them. At least someone from their families should get a job so they can survive,” he said.
The MP also questioned the lack of clarity on whether the incident was an accident or an attack. He said no one in Kashmir, “neither common people nor politicians,” had rushed to label it.
“If it was a terror attack, say it. If not, explain the lapses. First, prove it was an accident and then fix responsibility,” he said, adding that security, law, and order fall under the lieutenant governor’s administration and must be held accountable.
Ruhullah accused the BJP of politicising tragedies, referring to reactions following incidents in Delhi and Pahalgam, and warned against the harassment of innocent people. He expressed concern that Kashmiri Muslim doctors were facing clearance issues after the Delhi blast, calling it discriminatory and unjustified. “This is why an impartial investigation is crucial, so innocents are not suspected or punished,” he said.
The MP also questioned why a house linked to the case was demolished before the investigation was completed.
