JAMMU, Aug 20: Frustrated over frequent power cuts, business community today took to streets at Apsra road, Gandhi Nagar against the State Power Development Department.
The protest was held under the leadership of Senior BJP Leader, Indu Bhushan Sharma and Association President Ashwani Khullar. The protesters said the area was facing total blackout for last three days. All the shopkeepers closed down their showrooms and joined the protest at Apsra road, Gole Market Gandhi Nagar.
All the roads were blocked. Addressing the protestants Indu Bhushan Sharma threatened to call for indefinite shutdown of market and total road blockage in case the PDD fails to upgrade the transformer at Apsra Road immediately.
Later a delegation of shop owners met the higher authorities and demand quick action as their business has been badly affected due to lack of power. The protesters also marched to the PDD Office Gandhi Nagar and held a meeting with Executive Engineer there. He promised to arrange another transformer of the same capacity in next few days.
Anil Kohli, Ashu Gupta, Amit Jandyal, Kulbhushan Gupta, Vinod Gupta, Ishan Gupta, VK Poa, Ashok Verma, Vijay Sharma, Varun Sharma, Rajiv Goel, Abhimanyu, Balmukand Gupta, Bimmy Sethi and others addressed the protestors.
