JAMMU, Aug 20: The PHE daily wagers, Community Participation (CP) and need base workers today held strong protest demonstration followed by dharna at PHE complex B C Road here.
Led by Tanveer Hussain, president of the Association, the workers from various divisions and sub divisions of the PHE department assembled at the BC Road PHE complex and started their protest demonstration. They were raising slogans in support of their demands. Besides Tanveer several other association members addressed the gathering. After holding demonstration for about an hour, the workers sat on day long dharna.
They alleged that despite assurance, the Government has failed to frame policy for their regularization. They warned to go for 72-hour Kam Chhor Hartal if the Government failed to take note of their genuine and justified demand. They said many times representations were given to the Government and senior officers of the department but nothing happened.
The speakers also strongly condemned the lathicharge on PHE workers who were taking out peaceful protest rally at Srinagar on Tuesday. They said that the workers will be forced to intensify their struggle as the Government has become mute spectator.
