NC questions BJP’s Rajya Sabha win

JAMMU, Oct 26: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) Provincial President, Jammu, Rattan Lal Gupta and Shamim Begum, candidate for Nagrota Assembly Constituency, today addressed a series of workers gatherings in the Baran in Bhalwal block of the Nagrota Assembly constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Gupta questioned the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) victory in the Rajya Sabha elections, raising doubts about the authenticity of the results. “The BJP had only 28 legislators — where did the 32 votes come from? The BJP must come clean on this. How can a party that secured a seat through dishonesty claim to represent the people of Jammu in the highest temple of democracy (i.e Rajya Sabha)?” Gupta asked.
Lashing out at the BJP, Gupta said the party’s rhetoric on “development and progress” had proven hollow, as nothing substantial had been delivered to the people of Jammu over the past decade. “A decade of BJP’s misrule has left lakhs of youth unemployed. No new additions have been made in the fields of health, education, road, or surface connectivity. The prestigious institutions that have come up in Jammu were initiated by the National Conference during its previous tenure, and much of the groundwork on these projects was completed under our Government,” he said.
Gupta praised Shamim Begum, the party’s candidate from Nagrota, describing her as a leader with a “proven track record of development and dedicated service.” He expressed confidence that she would continue her good work in the constituency if elected. Urging party workers to intensify their outreach efforts, Gupta said, “Go door to door and share the record of development and good governance achieved under Omar Abdullah’s leadership.”
Shamim Begum highlighting the Omar Abdullah-led Government’s performance and commitment to inclusive development. She appealed to party workers to seek votes based on the NC’s proven record of good governance and public service.
