JAMMU, Oct 11: A teenage child belonging to the Rohingya community was murdered by his neighbour over some family rivalry here at Jalalabad area falling under the jurisdiction of Police Post Bathindi, officials said.
13-year-old Mohammad Zubair son of Abdul Gafoor of Burma at present Jalalabad, was strangulated with a belt by his neighbour Mansoor Alam, also from Burma, after the former’s family refused to marry their daughter with the latter, a police official said.
According to him, the body of the deceased child was recovered from the Gaziabad forest in Jalalabad area last night.
The police official further said that the accused Mansoor Alam has been arrested and lodged behind the bars.
A case under the relevant sections of the law has also been registered against him at the concerned police station and further investigation taken up, he added.
