SURANKOTE, Oct 10: Surankote Police have arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered approximately 10 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession.
Acting on specific information, a special naka was established by police team of Police Station Surankote, led by SHO Surankote Inspector Aejaz Ahmed Wani at Mirza Morh. During naka checking, one person identified as Aejaz Ahmed son of Mumtaz Hussain of Lathong, Tehsil Surankote, District Poonch was intercepted. On his personal search, around 10 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, the accused was taken into custody and a case FIR number 228/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Surankote.
According to Police, the accused is a habitual drug peddler, and several FIRs are already registered against him at different police stations. Details of his previous involvements are being verified. The accused was reportedly supplying narcotics to youth in the areas of Sanie, Lathong, and Lassana.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the forward and backward linkages of the accused in the narcotics trade.
