JAMMU, Oct 9: Mission Statehood Jammu and Kashmir (MSJK) president Sunil Dimple today led a traders’ protest rally at Parade Ground, demanding the revival of the full-fledged Darbar Move from November 2025 and restoration of J&K’s statehood.
A large number of market presidents and traders from Raghunath Bazaar, City Chowk, Purani Mandi, Shalamar, Gumat, and other city areas participated in the protest, raising slogans for the resumption of the biannual practice. Dimple alleged that Jammu’s trade and business have collapsed since the Darbar Move was stopped, affecting markets, showrooms, hotels, and transporters.
He urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to introduce a bill in the Assembly to restart the Darbar Move from this November and to impose a ban on liquor sale across J&K. Dimple warned of a massive agitation if the demand was ignored, alleging that the Government’s decision to halt the Darbar Move had caused unemployment among youth and heavy losses to the business community.
