SUNDERBANI, Sept 21: Two members of a family, including a youth were killed in a collision between a crane (vehicles pullar) and a car in Chowki Choura area, near Bhamla on Jammu-Poonch highway this evening.
Official sources said that both the victims hailed from Laman village near Sunderbani in district Rajouri. The mishap took place at around 5.30 pm near Rah Siot village under the jurisdiction of Chowki Choura Police Station. Both, Dev Raj (80), and his grandson- Manik (24), son of Rakesh Raina, were coming from Jammu to their home at Sunderbani.
At a sharp curve, both the vehicles (i-10 car No. JK-11E/3874 and crane No. JK02DN/9628) met head- on-collision, resulting into on the spot death of Dev Raj, son of Sant Ram; while Manik Raina succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to Sub District Hospital, Sunderbani.

BMO, Sunderbani Dr Meena Kumari when contacted said that Manik succumbed to the injuries while being shifted to hospital while, his grandfather had died on the spot. She said the police initiated the necessary legal proceedings.
Family sources said that Manik is undergoing Post-graduation in Jammu. He had taken his grandfather to a Jammu hospital for dialysis. Dev Raj is a chronic kidney patient and undergoes dialysis twice a week.
The police official said that crane driver escaped from the spot. Both the vehicles were in speed and could not keep control at a turn. He said i-10 car of Manik turned into a wreckage. Both the car occupants got trapped in the badly broken car and were rescued after long and tough efforts by the locals and policemen.
He said a case has been registered in this connection. Due to accident, the traffic was also disrupted on the busy highway for some time.
