Prem Nath Bhat Trust announces this year’s Amature Journalist Award

JAMMU, Sept 21: Well known writer and author Chander Mohan Bhat and Capt (retd) Tej Tickoo, a writer and former Editor Naad will be conferred with this year’s Pt Prem Nath Bhat Amature Journalist Award.
The decision to this effect was taken in the Award Committee of PNBMT which was held here under the chairmanship of Prof P N Trisal a veteran scholar and linguist.
The meeting was among others attended by Opinder Ambardar, Kashmiri Lal Bhat founder Trustee, Roop Krishan Shah, Virender Raina, Shadi Lal Rais, and Navin Handoo.
The award will be presented to them during a function to be held here on September 27 by the Trust.
The meeting was informed that Pt Prem Nath Bhat who attained martyrdom on December 27 in 1989 at his native town of Anantnag in Kashmir Valley, besides a leading advocate, an RSS ideologue was a free lance journalist who though his columns published in various newspapers in the erstwhile State of J&K and outside the country had cautioned the Government about the deteriorating situation in Kashmir Valley since eighties and expressed apprehensions that terrorism will grip the State as situation was deteriorating day by day there. He became an eyesore for terrorists and anti national elements who eliminated him later.
Since then the Trust is every year giving Pt Prem Nath Bhat Amature Journalist Award to two Amature journalists in the State.
The Selection Committees decision was formally approved in the Trust meeting here, today which was held under the chairmanship of B L Saraf, retired District and Session Judge and which among others was attended by senior KP leaders including M L Malla, Manmohan Thaploo senior Trustee, A K Raina, Kuldeep Raina, Ramesh Marhatta, P L Raina and Sundri Lal Koul.
