Merely by announcing for the sake of SMART CITY , a city doesn’t become or qualify to be called a smart city. We the citizens in India are still deficient and are deprived of basic amenities of life in our cities. By mere some colourful paintings on the roads at some selected places by some school children and erecting of huge attractive boards or signages at places with stylish colorful and bold writing on them as SMART CITY definitely doesn’t make a city, smart city till basic facilities are priorities and are made available. Basic facilities to include the following:-
Unclogged drains, nullahs and drainage systems.
Safe drinking water and regular supply of water.
Uninterrupted power supply that is regular electricity supply.
Covered nullahs and drainage systems flowing through the city to provide safety to humans and livestock against accidents and improved hygiene and sanitation.
Covered garbage pits or bins.
Provisioning of solar street lights to provide improved safety and security.
Tackling or management of public grievances on priority.
Wall to wall tarmac road, pot hole hassle free, unbumpy and beautiful roads is the basic requirement of citizens for undertaking smooth road journey. Some stretch of roads is in very pathetic condition and is not safe for driving especially for senior veterans and is prone to cause avoidable accidents acting as death trap for vehicles , scooters , motor cycles & commuters. Also becomes a main cause of causing lot of damage to all types of vehicles . Moreover very difficult to negotiate the vehicles and also many a times causes heavy traffic jams. Especially moving sick , patients needing urgent medical attention or old people from one place to another is a big challenge and unwanted delay can cause death enroute, while shifting critical patients or sick persons . It needs urgent attention by the concerned department to undertake immediate repair works on priority, a humble request to all commuters ( citizens) using this type of stretch of roads to drive cautiously. Ignoring genuine request of the general public is not in good taste. The concerned department to initiate the work on priority than to intimidate the public sentiments. The public claims that the matter has already been reported and brought to the notice of concerned officers. The public further claims that even the cost involved just for filling the deep potholes ,ruts temporarily is not much .
Best government governance to include strict time schedule for processing various paper works for various jobs on a given time schedule relating to any kind of work, be it construction or repair work of roads.
We all citizens must cooperate and support the government and its policies to the hilt with regard to smart city projects. We all must strive hard to become a useful and responsible members of smart city programs being undertaken by the government for improving basic facilities or services for whom , for us only. Let us all help government in achieving, what has been set into motion by the government to make cities, as smart cities for the benefit of all and sundry. Toe the line with government hammer and tongs. Don’t just stand and stare. GOVERNMENT IS DOING ENOUGH. BUT STILL ENOUGH REQUIRES TO BE DONE. WORRY NOT CITIZENS GOVERNMENT WILL DO WHAT IS DESIRED IN TRUE SENSE. HASSLE FREE AND SMOOTH AND EVEN RIDE FOR GENERAL PUBLIC IS ALSO THE MAIN AIM OF THE GOVERNMENT.
