
JAMMU, Sept 13: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Jammu marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its Incubation Centre, a hub dedicated to fostering innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship among media students.
The centre was formally inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor (VC) of IIMC, Dr Pragya Paliwal Gaur, in the presence of distinguished academicians, faculty, staff and students. The event was graced by Dr Dilip Kumar, Regional Director and Neha Jalali, Director (Administration and Finance), IIMC Jammu along with faculty members and students.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Gaur emphasized the importance of nurturing creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit in the evolving media landscape. She highlighted that the Incubation Centre would serve as a dynamic platform for students to experiment with ideas, explore digital media opportunities and develop projects with real-world impact.
Dr Gaur further shared that IIMC Jammu will collaborate with premier institutions like IIM and IIT, as well as with legal experts to equip students with the knowledge and mentorship required to become successful entrepreneurs in the field of media and communication. She stressed the importance of research and resource utilization, assuring students that the IIMC library will be upgraded and online access to journals will be provided wherever hard copies are unavailable.
Highlighting gender diversity on campus, Dr Gaur noted that a large number of female students are excelling in academics and setting examples in various fields. She also emphasized the importance of physical fitness and encouraged students to celebrate cultural diversity by creating podcasts that reflect the traditions of their home states.
Concluding her address, Dr Gaur stated that students who make the best use of the opportunities and resources available today will surely achieve success.
