JAMMU, Aug 19: Cluster University of Jammu organized `Anti-Ragging Week’, which concluded today with a formal valedictory function at Govt SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu.
The week-long awareness drive engaged students across constituent colleges through Slogan Writing, Essay Writing, Street Play, Photography, Interactive Sessions, Poster Making, and Symposium, highlighting the strong collective voice of youth against ragging.
In Slogan Writing Competition, first, second and third prizes were bagged by Taniya Sharma ,Aditi Angral and Ridham ( all from SPMR College ) & Ruchira Verma from GCW Gandhi Nagar) while in Essay Writing competition, first Prize was won by Mufiza Chaudhary from GCW Gandhi Nagar and 2nd and 3rd prizes by Randeep Meena and Raman Pawan from GCOE. In Street Play (Nukkad Natak) first Prize was bagged by Aakash Katoch from MAM College, second Prize by Divya & Manya from MAM College while in Photography Competition first Prize was won by Shaliza Singh from GCW Gandhi Nagar, second Prize byAnsh Dev Singh from School of Sciences and third Prize by Dev Satyam of GGM Science College.
In Poster Making Competition, first , 2nd and 3rd prize were won by Sonakshi of SPMR College of Commerce, Zaigam of GGM Science College and Mansi Rajput from GCOE, respectively. In Symposium, first Prize was won by Manpreet Kour of GGM Science College, second Prize by Priyansha Gupta of School of Social Sciences and third Prize by Mahi Gupta of GCW Gandhinagar and Taranpreet of SPMR College.
The week-long activities were ably organized under the stewardship of Prof D S Manhas, Dean Student Welfare.
Vice-Chancellor Prof K S Chandrasekar, underlined the significance of sensitizing youth about the ill effects of ragging and fostering a safe learning environment.
Dr Rajinder Singh , Principal SPMR College of Commerce, urged the students to be ambassadors of peace and inclusivity on campuses.
The report of the week-long activities was presented by Dr Shubra Jamwal and the event was anchored by Dr Deepshikha Sharma. The function was attended by Dean Academic Affairs, Controller of Examinations, Dean Sciences, Dean Arts, Principals of GCW Gandhi Nagar, GCOE, MAM College, FA/CAO, Director Sports, Associate and Assistant deans, Activity Coordinators and faculty. Formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr Rajni Sharma.
