SRINAGAR, July 30: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today registered a formal case against Firdous Ahmad, a terminated Selection Grade Constable of the J&K Police, for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The action follows a secret verification exercise carried out by the ACB, which uncovered that the former police official had acquired substantial movable and immovable assets in his own name and in the names of his close family members.
These assets are believed to be grossly disproportionate to his legitimate earnings as a public servant.
According to officials, the verification revealed that Ahmad has built a two-storied residential house on ancestral land at Hugam, Srigufwara in Anantnag, and owns a palatial house on land measuring 1 kanal 10 marlas at Estate Machbhawan Mattan.
He also reportedly holds a one-third share in Hotel Grand Lords located at Movora, Tehsil Salar, Pahalgam and has constructed another double-storied residence in Tawi Vihar, Sidhra, Jammu.
Consequently, an FIR (No. 03/2025) under Section 13(1)(b) read with 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, has been registered at Police Station ACB Anantnag.
An ACB spokesperson stated that further investigation into the matter is in progress.
