JAMMU, July 29: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the empanelment of Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gilani, a 1994-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, for holding the post of the Director General (DG) or equivalent level at the Centre.

Son of soil, Gilani, who has formerly served on several key positions in Jammu and Kashmir, including IGP Kashmir and Director Vigilance J&K, is among 35 senior Indian Police Service officers whose names have been cleared in the latest empanelment order issued on July 29, 2025.
Besides Gilani, two other AGMUT Cadre IPS officers have also been empanelled as DG or equivalent at the Centre. They are 1994 batch AGMUT Cadre officers Arun Kumar and Neeraj Thakur.
