JAMMU, July 23: Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj (VKS) has today demanded that the encroachments from historical and ancient Vichar Nag temple be removed and encroachers of the land be evicted immediately.
Talking to reporters here, today the general secretary of the Samaj, M K Yogi along with Zeshta Devi Prabandhak Committee president Ravi Jogi, Opinder Handoo, Chartered Accountant and representative of various KP organisations, Dr T K Bhat, a senior KP leader, Ashok Dhar president Buta Nagar Welfare Committee and T K Dhar a social activist demanded that permanent security personnel be deployed at shrine for its security , the devotees should be ensured safe pilgrimage on auspicious occasions to the shrine, the temple be brought on the tourism map of J&K UT and Kashmiri Hindu Shrines and Temples Bill be passed without any delay for safeguarding of religious places of Hindus in Valley.
The KP leaders also expressed their satisfaction over the laying of foundation stone for development of Vichar Nag by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo. They said that the shrine has a great significance for Kashmiri Pandits but unfortunately it suffered a lot of damage during 36 years of turmoil and could not be managed properly. However, it lauded the Government for sanctioning Rs five crore of the development of the holy shrine.
The KP leaders however regretted that no prominent member of KP community including former bureaucrats, renowned educationists and religious leaders were invited while laying the foundation stone.
It complimented the Officer on Special Duty to Haryana Chief Minister, Raj Nehru and Kiran Wattal Chairman Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj for their efforts in brining the then Governor of Haryana to the holy shrine last year who assured them that he will take up the issue of its development with the Union as well as J&K Government.
They said that it was with the efforts of the then Haryana Governor, Bandaru Dattatreya, LG of J&K, Manoj Sinha, Raj Nehru and Kiran Wattal that the Government took steps for the development of the shrine and the Navreh function was held at this holy shrine last year.
They said during that function the then Haryana Governor announced on the very spot that he will take up allotment of funds for development of 5100 year old holy temple with the Government.
The others present in the press conference included Dr M K Razdan, Kuldeep Raina, B L Jalali, Sanjay Tickoo, Sanjay Raina, Dr R K Bhat, Ramesh Kumar Bhat, Ashwani Bhat, Anil Bhan, Sunil Pandita, M K Raina, K K Ganjoo, S K Bhat and Krishan Ji Koul were also present in the press conference.
