SRINAGAR, July 9: J&K Government Employees Joint Action Committee (JKGEJAC) in a day long convention held here today passed several resolutions seeking regularization of daily rated/ casual/ consolidated workers, removal of pay anomalies and budgetary support to the PSU workers.
Senior Trade Union leaders Ram Kumar Sharma, Rafiq Ahmed Khanyari, Balwan Singh Jamwal, Mohd Yousuf Rather, Ghulam Ahmed  Nath and Abdul Gaffar Khan presided over the convention. A large number of employees and workers including teachers from various Govt Departments and PSUs participated in the programme. The agenda of the convention was non-implementation of 5 years back agreement held on Feb 19, 2009 by the State Government  and the platform for unity and struggle.
The speakers during convention unanimously condemned the State Government for its lack of will to implement the five years back agreement. They alleged that Government has conducted breach of trust and failed to honour its agreement. However, the convention felt that the Government conceded the demand of enhancement of retirement age only for election gains but the other demands were set aside. The convention also deliberated upon the broad based unity of different factions, groups and independent organizations of the employees, workers and teachers to form a single platform to carry forward  the struggle. The senior leaders including Kumar and Khanyari   expressed their views over the non-seriousness on the part of State Government which has failed to implement the agreement thrice  and compelling the employees  and workers of the State to come on the streets to launch agitation.
A resolution was also passed seeking implementation of  agreement, regularization of daily rated/ temporary  workers,  removal of pay anomalies of various cadre, budgetary support to PSUs etc.
Meanwhile, a mass dharna  and demonstration was also organised by the J&K Govt Employees Joint Action Committee -R Jammu in front of Press Club Jammu under the leadership of Madan Sangral, Sudarshan Sharma, Noor Alam, Yash Pal and others.  The workers condemned the Government for its anti-employee policies. They were shouting slogans in support of their demands. They also demanded release of trade union leaders arrested by police in Srinagar.
