Jayesh slams Govt over power cuts

JAMMU, June 15: Social and political activist Jayesh Gupta today strongly criticized the administration for its failure to deliver uninterrupted power supply to the people of Jammu as promised.
Speaking to media persons, Gupta said, “Amid soaring temperatures, residents of Jammu continue to face prolonged power cuts, despite the Government’s installation of smart meters and rising electricity bills.
He recalled the Government’s assurances that smart meters would ensure 24×7 electricity and bring transparency. “Instead of better services, people are now grappling with inflated bills and worsening outages,” he said.
Jayesh slammed the administration’s lack of planning, especially during peak summer when power demand is at its highest. He also underscored the adverse impact of erratic electricity on essential services, particularly water supply, as many areas rely on electric pumps that fail during outages.
Highlighting the public health implications of water scarcity caused by frequent power failures, Gupta accused the Government of being apathetic and unresponsive to citizens’ suffering. He urged authorities to act immediately to address the crisis and restore basic services.
