Srinagar, July 5: The residents of hilly village Abhama in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district staged massive protests against the Power Development Department for its failure to restore electricity in the village from the last one week.
The villagers are reeling under darkness since the beginning of holy month of Ramzan and authorities didn’t pay any heed to their repeated pleas.
They threatened to take to the streets to protest against the Government if the power supply was not restored on priority basis.
PDD officials said the transmission line from Shadimarg to Abhama is damaged from the last two days, so the area is not receiving electricity.
Assistant Executive Engineer, Rajpora Abdul Rehman Sheikh did not respond the repeated phone calls from Excelsior.
