Different organisations celebrate World Environment Day

JAMMU, May 30: Different organisations here today celebrated World Environment Day 2025 by organising different programmes to aware masses regarding the importance of environment.
As part of the ongoing 10-day campaign initiated by J&K Pollution Control Committee (JKPCC) Samba to mark the celebration of World Environment Day 2025, a special awareness cum sensitization programme was organized at Government Girls Model Higher Secondary (GGMHS) School, Samba. This year’s World Environment Day theme ‘Ending Plastic Pollution Globally’ was central to the discussions. The event was graced by Ghan Sham Singh, Member Secretary, JKPCC; Dr. Bhawna Abrol, Principal of GGMHS School, Samba; Vinay Sharma, General Manager, Berger Paints India Ltd, Samba along with teachers, staff members and over 100 students. The programme culminated with administration of Mission Lifestyle for Environment pledge by Vasu Nargotra, reaffirming the commitment of all participants towards promoting sustainable lifestyles. Earlier, 300 cloth bags were distributed among the students, symbolizing a small yet significant step towards plastic-free living.
On World Environment Day 2025, the Department of Youth Services & Sports Kishtwar flagged off a massive Plog Run across Zone Kishtwar and Zone Nagseni to kick-off district-wide campaign themed ‘Ending Plastic Pollution’. The event is being conducted under the direction of Director General Youth Services & Sports J&K, Rajinder Singh Tara and in close coordination with the District Administration Kishtwar led by Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Kumar Shavan. The Plog Run, aimed at raising awareness about hazards of plastic pollution and promoting responsible waste management, saw enthusiastic participation from 600 students from Middle Schools, High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools of the twin zones.
On World Environment Week, the Department of Youth Services & Sports Rajouri under the leadership of Mohd Qasim organized a series of cyclothons across various zones of the district. Participants from numerous schools enthusiastically took part in the cycling events held at key zone headquarters. The leadership of Wali Mohd, ZPEO Baljarallan along with the support of staff members played a crucial role in the smooth conduct of the programs.
In a dynamic move toward environmental sustainability the Department of Youth Services & Sports, Rajouri launched a comprehensive campaign to mark World Environment Day 2025. The campaign commenced with a district-wide Plog-Run mobilizing thousands of students teachers and local residents across various educational zones. Participants jogged while collecting plastic waste along the routes holding banners and chanting impactful slogans ‘Say No to Plastic Be Part of the Solution Not the Pollution’.
