JAMMU, May 29: President of the Jammu and Kashmir State Pensioners Association (JKSPA), Krishan Singh has urged the Government to merge 50% of the Dearness Allowance (DA) with the basic pension of both pensioners and serving employees.
Singh also demanded an increase in the monthly medical allowance from the current Rs 300 to Rs 1,000 per month. He pointed out that pensioners in Union Territories such as Ladakh and those under the Central Government are already receiving higher medical allowances, and J&K pensioners deserve similar treatment.
Furthermore, Singh appealed to the Central Government to exempt pensioners from the ambit of annual income tax, citing their limited and fixed income sources. He also expressed concern over the continued absence of a head at the Central Pay Commission, calling for the immediate appointment of a competent authority to address pay-related grievances.
