Pak isolation in UNSC underscores global shift against terrorism: Gaurav

JAMMU, May 6: J&K BJP Spokesperson, Gaurav Gupta today said that the latest United Nations Security Council session underscores the global shift against terrorism rejecting Pakistan’s narrative on Jammu and Kashmir.
“In a resounding diplomatic victory for India, the UNSC has once again unequivocally rejected Pakistan’s baseless narrative on J&K, reinforcing India’s sovereign stance and further exposing Islamabad’s continued patronage of terrorism,” he said, in a statement issued here today.
Gaurav said that the closed-door UNSC consultations following the tragic April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam turned into a diplomatic embarrassment for Pakistan. “Attempting to portray the incident as a ‘false flag operation,’ was decisively dismissed by the majority of Council members who instead turned the spotlight on Pakistan, demanding accountability for the unchecked activities of UN-designated terrorist groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT),” he said, adding that the Council strongly condemned the sectarian nature of the Pahalgam attack and reiterated the international community’s commitment to protecting civilian lives and upholding counterterrorism norms
“Crucially, the UNSC reaffirmed its long-standing view that the Jammu & Kashmir issue must be resolved bilaterally between India and Pakistan, in accordance with the Simla Agreement (1972) and Lahore Declaration (1999). There was zero appetite among permanent members for any third-party intervention or for internationalizing the matter. The United States, France, the United Kingdom, and Russia-all stood firmly with India, reiterating that developments in Jammu & Kashmir fall entirely within the framework of India’s sovereign jurisdiction,” he further said and added that even greater significance was the silence of Pakistan’s traditional allies. China, which refrained from endorsing Islamabad’s stance while leading Islamic nations such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Bahrain-long considered close to Pakistan-offered no support, reflecting their deepening strategic and economic partnerships with India.
Reiterating that this latest UNSC session underscores the global shift against terrorism and those who sponsor it, Gaurav Gupta said that under the visionary leadership of PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, India’s principled and decisive stand on terrorism, sovereignty, and national security is finding unprecedented global endorsement.
