JAMMU, Apr 24: KIIT Deemed to be University has made a significant leap in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2025, climbing to the 184th position among Asia’s top institutions. This marks a notable improvement from its previous year’s ranking of 196, reinforcing KIIT’s consistent rise in global academic circles.
With this achievement, KIIT now ranks as the 8th best university in India across both Government and private sectors, outperforming several long-established Indian institutions. The University has also retained its position as the highest-ranked Deemed University in Eastern and Northern India. In addition, KIIT has emerged as a national leader in the field of Sports Science, securing the 2nd position in India in the subject-wise rankings.
This year’s edition of the THE Asia University Rankings assessed 853 universities across 35 countries and territories. The rankings are based on 18 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure institutions’ strengths in areas such as research, teaching, knowledge transfer, and international outlook. These metrics make the rankings a trusted benchmark for students, academic professionals, policymakers, and industry stakeholders worldwide.
Commenting on the accomplishment, Prof Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT, KISS, and KIMS, said, “This recognition reflects the collective efforts and the mission-driven spirit that define KIIT. We share this success with every individual who believes in our values.” Prof Samanta credited the faculty, staff, students, alumni, and supporters for their unwavering dedication to excellence.
KIIT has maintained a consistent presence in reputed global rankings such as the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and the QS World Rankings. The University has also achieved prestigious international accreditations including IET and ABET, further solidifying its global reputation.
Remarkably, KIIT’s achievements come within a relatively short span of time. The university, established just 27 years ago, received its Deemed University status only 21 years ago. Despite its youth, KIIT has managed to surpass several institutions with more than half a century of legacy.
