Foreign delegates to explore UP’s iconic destinations, cultural richness

LUCKNOW, Apr 20: In a major step to boost international tourism, the Uttar Pradesh government is set to host a high-level foreign delegation for a special familiarisation trip (FAM Trip) from April 22 to April 30, Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said on Sunday.

The Minister said that organised by the UP Eco Tourism Development Board, the initiative aims to showcase the state’s rich tourism offerings and establish it as a prime destination for global travellers.

He said that while UP already ranks first in the country for domestic tourism, the state is now actively working to attract more international tourists.

“As part of the FAM trip, prominent travel industry representatives from the UK, USA, Germany, Australia and host country India will tour several iconic and lesser-explored destinations across the state. They will also go to places like Kashi from Chambal Safari,” he said.

Singh said that this trip is an important step to introduce foreign tour operators to the state’s top tourist destinations and to strengthen UP’s presence on the international tourism map.

“During the trip from Chambal Safari to Kashi, the delegation will experience the state’s cultural diversity, historical heritage and natural beauty,” he said.

He said that representatives from major travel companies in the UK, US, Germany and Australia will be visiting UP starting April 22.

“Their journey will begin from Agra, where they will explore Bateshwar and enjoy the Chambal Safari. After that, they will travel to Kannauj and attend a special workshop on perfume making. This will give them a chance to learn about the world-famous perfume traditions of Kannauj,” he said.

The Minister said that the group will also visit Dudhwa National Park, Pilibhit Tiger Reserve and Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary before Lucknow.

“There, they will explore historical sites, experience the famous Chikankari embroidery and taste local cuisine. After Lucknow, the group will travel to Prayagraj, where they will visit the Sangam, historical places and a famous farm stay called Planters’ Bungalow,” he said.

He said that the trip will end at Kashi (Varanasi), where they will visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, witness the Ganga Aarti, experience the ‘Morning of Varanasi’ and explore local arts, crafts and traditional dishes.

Singh said that UP has huge potential for eco-tourism, and steps are being taken to develop it further.

“The Eco Tourism Development Board is working to bring the natural beauty of the state to global attention. These familiarisation trips from different countries are part of that effort,” he said.

He said that the group also includes travel writers, who will share their experiences through articles and social media, helping to promote UP’s attractions around the world.

“This effort is seen as a big boost for the state’s tourism industry,” he added.
