DODA, Mar 11: A workshop was organised here today in Districts Doda and Kishtwar regarding ‘One Nation One Election’ where former Deputy Mayor Jammu, Baldev Singh Billawaria was the main speaker and he talked on the importance of ‘One Nation One Election’ initiative.
On this occasion, District Doda Council Chairman, Dhanantar Singh Kotwal, Vice-Chairman Sangeeta Bhagat and Council members Babu Ram and Gajey Singh Rana were also present from Doda while Kishtwar Municipal Council members, Chuni Lal Shan and Suresh Kumar Sharma were present from Kishtwar.
Billawaria said that continuous elections at various levels in India disrupt governance, increase costs and misuse resources.
“The concept of ‘One Nation, One Election’ aims to coordinate the electoral process for better governance and economic progress,” he maintained adding that the money spent on elections held in different phases in States can be used for development in the country.
Doda District Council Chairman, Dhanantar Singh Kotwal along with his members, supported the campaign and said that it is in the interest of the country.
