Drug peddler arrested, 17.23 grams heroin seized

UDHAMPUR, Mar 2: Police arrested a Kashmir based inter-district drug peddler from Chenani and recovered 17.23 grams of heroin like substance from his possession.
A police team from Police Station Chenani, while conducting naka checking and frisking at Motor Shed, NH-44 Chenani, intercepted an Alto car (Registration No. JK02AJ-4043), which was on way from Jammu towards Srinagar.
During search of the vehicle, the police recovered 17.23 grams of heroin-like contraband, concealed in a transparent polythene bag.
The driver, identified as Imtiyaz Hussain, son of Ghulam Hussain, resident of Sopore, Baramulla, was arrested on the spot. The vehicle and the recovered contraband were seized.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused is an inter-district drug peddler involved in smuggling narcotics across different districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
In this connection, FIR number 23/2025 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chenani.
