UDHAMPUR, Feb 14: A chemist shop was sealed by the authorities for the illegal sale of banned drugs in Udhampur today.
Official sources said that during routine patrolling near SKPA Udhampur, a person identified as Micheal Jackson, son of Raju, a resident of Christian Colony, was apprehended. During his checking, 5.5 grams of narcotic substance, suspected to be heroin, were recovered. Additionally, 7 blister strips containing a total of 66 Pregabelian capsules were found in his possession.
A case FIR No. 41/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered against the accused, and an investigation was initiated.
Further investigation revealed that the banned Pregabelian capsules were procured from Sai Medicos Chemist and Druggist, located opposite Peer Baba near the Forest Office in Udhampur. The shop, which operates under Drug Licence No. JK-UDH-113644, was found to be unlawfully selling these Schedule H1 drugs.
Following the investigation, a joint team consisting of District Police Udhampur and the Drug Inspector conducted an inspection of the premises. The shop has been permanently sealed, and a show-cause notice has been issued to the owner of the shop, demanding an explanation for the illegal sale of Schedule H1 drugs without a valid prescription.
